I'm a little bit annoyed that we're not privy to the obvious ridiculousness that meant we no longer have him. And have let him move on a free. And have kept this from our fans.

Most pointless signing ever. They droaned on and on about budget cuts but then sign him for a year and never used him. Jobs for the boys indeed. Granted he was probably only on 20k a year or something, but thats not the point

James Collins returns to Shrewsbury with them taking over the remainder of his contract he had with Hibs.

Will he handle the step up?

I agree. He's a great signing for a league 2 side.

Interesting piece on Collins in the Scotsman at the moment.

Hibs fans seem delighted to be shot of him...but I do wonder whether it's simply a case of not fitting in.  Plenty of examples of players we have had on our books who have not performed, and then went on to excel elsewhere.  (The mention of Cureton, McNamee etc. still gets me wound up.)

For James Collins at Hibs read Gary Alexander at Swindon. I thought McNamee probably played his best stuff at Swindon. "We all dream of a team of McNamees....."

2 similar standard teams, us and Hibs, he should have scored goals for them.

I'd have had him back on a free in a heartbeat.
