I've never heard of him, why are so many people saying they'd be happy with him?
Not a dig at him or anyone saying he'd be good at all, i'm just wondering why people rate him so highly.

Just a gut feeling for me.

Then again my gut feeling didnt want that Italian bloke when he was first linked with us

Think that will largely be the better the devil you don't know factor....MacDonald isn't any of the retreads we could have got lumbered with, so he comes with some experience but little baggage...Venky's wanted him before appointing Appleton.

He was well regarded at Villa...so I'd say given the short time frame a decent enough appointment.

Where's Reg, and what have you done with him?

Exactly, given the constraints and lack of viable alternatives it's a sensible move.

Doesn't guarantee he'll succeed of course, but even with the fans' tendency to think we know best it's tough to pick too many holes in that appointment, if it turns out to be him.

Paul Merson now appearing in the betting at 16-1.  That has to be a joke.

BBC Wiltshire radio have been announcing MacDonald as manager as (all but) fact over the past hour or so.

Took me some time to remember who Kev was / is, having read a bit I'm feeling quietly positive....running through in my head how his name fits into various songs now.

Macdonald sounds like a decent shout to me. Whoever gets appointed will need the full support of the town faithful.

He surely would have some good links too, so we could get some good loan signings too.

Benteke on loan would do for a start Wink

Here is a perfect example from Twitter of the reaction we can expect if/when MacDonald is appointed:

A few fans could do with looking up the word 'expectations' in the dictionary.
The more I see our fans on Twitter the more I feel the need to put my head in my hands.

Fatbury was on a similar scale to that
