Bloody hell, that’s a tearjerker. Incredible article. Have I made up that we were at the CG ahead of kick off when the news circulated? Just awful.
We were talking about this on our WhatsApp group earlier this week. First game of the season home to Sheffield Wednesday on an absolutely boiling hot day. My dad and I arrived into the ground. Of course it was pre smart phones but obviously people had got the news and it was spreading around the ground. We lost the game 3-2, but it seemed irrelevant given the news pre-match. |

Didn’t hear the new till after the game.
His mum spoke pre-game before Notts County about Jimmy. Followed it up with a ‘come on Swindon’ and we destroyed Notts County 5-0 (I think)
We were so emotionally charged and up for it that game we’d have destroyed any team in the world that day….

I thought it was 5-0 too, but having looked back it turns out that was the game in March 2003. We won the game in August 4-0. |
