I'm sort of inclined to agree, was not expecting us to take any real risks, while we cannot afford a proven L1 striker plucking someone from non league who will probably need time to get used to L1 level was not expected, we need goals now, wait and see

If it was realistic he'd be doing the Gladwin slightly dishevelled lonely scarf shot at the CG today. Power knows there's unrest amongst the fans...
At least there hasn't been a 'derisory offer' comment from D&R (yet). Even if Power is playing the game to appease the fans, I'd rather hear of formal bids turned down than the hush of no bids made at all.

he has 1/3 in goal record in non league 250/87) so worth a punt, 250k he ain't though, 150-200 max but depends on how serious the bids are from Forest etc. Obika was 200k and was a well known league player but less prolific to give you a rough idea on costings.
He would be our Ajose replacement (imho), more of a goalmouth scrambler, hopefully there are 2/3 more additions this week before Bolton but was hoping to get 1/2 in today as time running out.

How is it unrealistic?
We're the only team with a confirmed bid, north of 100k, for a striker with half a season in the Conference. Seems perfectly realistic?
Unless of course you're just seizing another opportunity for a moan based on one report in the Evening Standard with nothing but conjecture and guessing?
Some time ago I took to skimming past Reg's football related posts. It makes for a much more enjoyable TEF experience.

Not as stupidly unrealistic a bid as some previous windows.. ----- On the general transfer front:
For every Austin their is a Bertie Brayley (still playing : Dorking Wanderers) For every Ajose there is a Slabber. For every Flint there is a Ben Martin
We know its not an exact science, league, non-league or otherwise. We know we won't poach an under contract established player. We can't afford it, we aren't an attractive prospect.
But I still expected and am still expecting us to pull a couple of rabbits out the hat. A struggling for game time 'done it before' player or two a Greer, or an Ajose type. Or has Tactics run out of contacts and favours already - surely not (genuinely).
Not asking for too much IMO.

The prices bandied about for strikers at L2 and even non league level makes our £800,000 for Ajose a bit skinny.

When you see players in the championship now going for £8m+ almost as standard, it doesn't surprise me to see Conference clubs now holding out for £250k.
I read the other day that Fulham paid derby £2.5m just to loan Chris Martin for a season, so £250k would be a small gamble for a championship club.

Proved by West Ham bidding £12.5m for Scott Hogan at Brentford and having it turned down as they want £15m...silly money.

I've no objection to signing a fella from D and R.....if we actually sign him. Occasionally you get one like Joe Mason, who was earmarked as Austin's replacement or a Charlie Mulgrew, whereby clubs etc had agreed the deal, for it to fall down as the player didn't fancy it. Which is kind of fair enough....not a lot more the club could do. This is the problem with doing deals in the window...marry in haste, repent at leisure.
