I thought a pitch invasion meant an automatic ban and fine? Didn't think it was down to the discretion of the club?

As far I know it's up to the club... as a football groud is private property its up the owners rather than the plod. No it's not. It's a criminal offence to go on the playing area while a match is in progress. And they define the playing area as all the areas around the pitch as well. All Boro are saying is they won't ban him - whether the cops prosecute him and the courts then ban him is out of their hands |

Fair play to Gibson!, that fan was ace.  I liked the way MOTD blow it up out of proportion, "why was he allowed to get that far?, he could have been carrying an AK-47!" (ok they didnt say the last bit but they might aswell had). |

He could still have shot McLaren from the stands, in fact, being further away he might have caused more carnage by having to get a full 6 rounds off before hitting the real target, and thus killing 5 real people as well! It's a good job he did that far if he had a gun! |
