But both us and the club need to start addressing the wider population of Swindon - at the moment, we're all focusing too much on addressing arguments to fans. Which is still worth doing cos hopefully then the fans act as ambassadors for the arguments, but the club and fans groups need to be seen to be addressing the argument of why non-football fans in Swindon should care.
And why should they care?
Because having a football club is an important part of the town's cultural life, just as much as having a theatre, a cinema etc
Because having the club in Swindon centre brings in millions to the town's economy (the council spend hundreds of thousands trying to attract that kind of business to the town, yet they seem happy to sit back and watch us lose one we've already got)
Because the club does invaluable work in the community through the football in the community schemes, study centres etc which would almost certainly not be replaced if the club moved out
Because a redeveloped facility could provide the kind of conferencing facilities the town is sorely lacking which would in turn help attract major businesses to the town
Because a redeveloped facility could provide sports and leisure facilities everyone could benefit from
Because Swindon's had a pro football club for 125 years - its part of our heritage
Because if we've got any sense of civic pride whatever, for a town this size not to have a pro football club would be embarassing; for us to have had one and lost it thru sheer indifference would be shameful
Because yeovil_red says so
