Can someone clear this up!
Theo Walcott once signed for the Town from AFC Newbury FC with Scott Doe before being poached by Southampton as a 16 year old?

Ohhh yes, yes he did it appears. Google tells me so. Theo Walcott played for Swindon Town F.C. for half a season in their under elevens side.

No one let him go, he was at the centre of excellence and Southampton poached him for their academy, like they poach 2-3 of the most promising kids every bloody year, even though the rules for academies are supposed to limit their catchment areas to try to stop this happening.
I think they're only supposed to take kids from within an hours travelling time. But it doesn't seem like anybody bothers to enforce it

when i managed a charity team for the will pemberton memorial cup (For this guy - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/berkshire/3282707.stm ) theo's name was touted as being in the opposition, however southampton pulled him out because they where worried about him getting injured. Good job to, was some interesting tackles flying around that day

i couldnt be assed to read those links so i dont know if this was mentioned in any of them.
In this months four four two magazine (The boys a bit special).
Unknown fact.
When i was at swindon U11's for half a season i had to wear my shoes in training as they trained on astroturf and i had only taken my boots.
Something along those lines, i am at work and dont have the magazine with me.

My Dad was once on the books at STFC, the club never did receive any % of his future earnings as a painter and decorator though. See, even back in the olden days, the board simply weren't at the races, although clearly Willie is quite a lot these days.
