Oxford fan, im a postman so listen.

Recorded is JUST normal post that requires a signature. It gets chucked into mail bags and tossed about and has alot of other packets chucked on top.

A special is guaranteed the next day before 1pm

They are segregated from all other post and are scanned into every office they arrive at and leave.

They are not sorted at a delivery office but go into whats called a locker where their sorted into different delivery rounds.

Ultra safe.

Recorded is just normal post with a signature.

mate i've posted about 200 items that i've sold off ebay via 1st class, no probs.

cds, dvds, etc

like leggett says amazon and play ship all their stuff via the same service.

if the buyer is willing to pay the extra for special, then fine but certainly don't send items via specia delivery as standard at your own expense, its silly business

It's a cheap DVD worth about 4 quid.

If it goes missing I can't see Boeta weeping into his pillow.

I'd say put it in a a Jiffi bag that's been used before..and tape a new address over the top...go to the PO and say I'd like to send this and put it on the scale thing, on the counter....the assistanrt will then tell you the cost and provide the necessary stampage in return for the apppropriate coinage....afix the stamp or stamps to the package, and either the assistant will tale it over the counter for you, or post it in an appropriate letter box.

My dad used to sell loads of dvds every week on ebay. He would just send it normal first class but he would send it in a jiffy bag. If it gets lost you can claim back the cost anyway. Recorded/special delivery isn't a good idea, because if the recipient isn't in then they have to re-organise delivery and they often won't like that. I guess it all depends on if you care about your feedback on ebay.
