went out for a mates 21st saturday night. a nice curry at the Balti Cuisine I think, then off to the taff, followed by come play.

cardiff is a rank city, all of the student area streets look the same and i don't remember seeing one bit of grass in the place. the city centre is full of those crappy bar/club places which all look the same and have the same wankers for customers (welshmen).

plenty of women at the uni though. the pub was absolutely rammed and it took 20mins to get a drink. we made a quick exit for come play, which wasn't much better. one thing that did strike me was the number of people who looked remarkably similar. basically there were generic 7.5/10 white women all over the place wearing the same clothes, or noncy blokes.

i'm glad i chose norwich now, a bit more diversity here. i guess with cardiff being close to the thames/bristol region the wanker ratio is going to be a bit higher.

I went to visit mates there when they were at Uni and aside from the somewhat bijou halls, the atmosphere lacked a certian je ne sais quoi, and it is indeed full of Welshies.

No, no, no. Cardiff is a lovely place.

Come play is shit oxford fan, shouldn't have gone to that, the taff is ok, does get busy though. You're right about the people looking similar but that's just come play.

The city centre has a few generic chains and stuff but also has some superb more underground places like Clwb Ifor Bach and Moloko which I can honestly say are much better than anything I've ever seen in Swindon or anywhere near.

There's loads of grass, we have about 3 or 4 parks near the city centre, there's one just down the road from me. Roath Park and Bute Park are particularly huge, here's a nice guide. http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/United_Kingdom/Wales/South_Glamorgan/Cardiff-315777/Things_To_Do-Cardiff-Parks_and_Gardens-BR-1.html

One big advantage is that Cardiff has some fo the cheapest prices you'll find anywhere in the uk. When some pubs have prices as low as £1 a pint it's a bit better than nearly £3 you find in some places.

Also, I swear there is more English people than Welsh here. When the England and Wales games were on at the same time, nearly every pub played the England game due to demand.

Clwb Ifor Bach is the worst place to find. went there for a gig, parked in the NCP the other end of cardiff town centre, got back to it at half midnight, it was all locked up. cue lots of rain, and the parking attendant guys coming out at 3:30am to let us in.

also been to the student union for a gig earlier this year, alrite, walkin thru the town centre, and everyone looked the same, and gave me and my mates evils... Swansea aint so bad. but Newport is fucking terrible. Aberystwyth is a hole, my sis goes to uni there. fit(ish) birds strolling about in not much, and the sea, but thats about it.

Yeah Clwb Ifor Bach is hidden away down a back street.

Thing is you can go into Swindon and a lot of people look the same, it's just more expensive and the music's not as good. If I was honestly comparing the two places then Cardiff is a much nicer place.

Newport has got Rave Chicken, Swansea is pretty shit but Cardiff is one of the UK's nicest cities.

That explains everything.

That's a pity. Won't be as much fun anymore ... knowing that I'm mocking the afflicted.

Everytime I've been out in Cardiff I've had an ace time. So I quite rate it.

Honestly, Aberwystwyth is worse than Newport.    Honestly.

However rough Newport is (and it is), its not the mouldy stagnant rotten sodden heap of old crap that is.............Aberwyswyth. And it takes about 15 hours to drive home (Scars from childhood).

Quite like Cardiff. The people are good once they get over the whole anti English humungous chip on their shoulder, although it does take time, and patience.

Yeah Aberystwyth is apparently the furthest place in the uk from a dual carriageway road in the UK and it takes longer to get there from just about anywhere than anywhere else in the UK. For me in Cardiff I could probably get to Newcastle or even Edinburgh quicker than I could get to Aberystwyth.

My cousin went to uni there and she said apart from the students it is very quiet and just a generally shit place.

Plenty of decent nights out and the union is a good laugh if your actually from the uni cos you know more people etc
