Captain Marvel is staying out in Pakistan, for now anyway  .He is going to miss the first test ,but the management and medical teams are hopeful that he might make the other two tests after resting his knee .I hope they are right because i'm not too sold on Bangers captaincy skills yet.

Cook has been called up .. better than Key anyway
I still think Prior instead of Bell for 1st test

I'm not entirely sure howw this works but surely Vaughny can advise and skipper from the pavillion? I'm guessing with the respect he commands there won't be any fall out between him and trescothick if he did this.
I guess it's both good and bad news, he's not out the tour yet, but will miss the test. Will Bell replace him, on the basis that Collingwood and two spinners are likely to play.

Im not very confident in Trescothick's ability to captain, id sooner have Strauss as captain.

There won't be a problem between Vaughan and Tresco because Tres has captained in Vaughan's absense before. As for captaining from the sidelines,i'm not sure it would work although the same plans for the Pakistan players will still be in place i suppose. I'm with you Spuddy, i don't think Banger has got 'it' in terms of being the captain,Strauss would be the bloke i'd go for but Tres has been vice-captain for a while now so it will be him :-))( .

Tres is a city fan for a start, and he doesn't exude the intelligence of brockett does he?

True,i think they gave the poor sod a seat for life . I think as well as possible density on Tres's part ,he also doesn't seem to possess Vaughan's ability [or luck ]to know when to change bowlers or move the field around to get that wicket,i guess Vaughan has an intuitive cricket brain which i don't think Tres has. Also he doesn't have Virgil's suggestive eyebrow which always entertains me so much when he gives interviews

I assume you mean your not worried about Virgil's injury ,i just hope being captain doesn't effect Tresco's batting form in the same way it seems to have effected Vaughan.

Have to say i agree. Its strange we have a wicket keeper/batsman :-))( who's know as Butterfingers,a star batsman who can't take dolly catches and a captain who's form is way down on what it was before and yet we still won the Ashes

I can't ever remember us having a captain play well during their captaincy for England- Atherton, Hussain, Vaughan :|

Hussain performed better with the bat as captain than as non-captain
Vaughan's captaincy is unrivalled in the world and we will miss it hugely. However I'd still wager that Tresco's captaincy is superior to that of Inzi
