Hearts chairman Roman Romanov has underlined that new first-team coach Graham Rix will not be responsible for bringing in new players to the club.
The former Chelsea coach and Portsmouth boss will be unveiled as the Scottish Premier League side's new first-team coach at 1400 GMT on Tuesday.
"The coach will only coach. The only job he has is to coach and make players better," Romanov told the club website.
A sporting director will be hired to handle the transfer of players.

Seems like Hearts just wanted a yes man and Rix being so desperate to have a job took it.

I liked this bit of homespun Russian philosophy...

"But, in Russia, we have a saying that a man that's beaten by life is worth two that are unbeaten: which means that someone who has made a mistake is capable of becoming a better man."

Probably explains why Stalin is still popular with some.

Rix was on the verge of being offered the job at Crawley Town before Romanov came calling. Rix has proved in the past he is a good coach, but a crap manager. Maybe this will work!

Hardly like the better man is not the one who finds solutions to a mistake, but the one who doesn't make mistakes in the first place. :?

By my logic, a 'better man' is certainly not what Rix is, definately a case of a yes man for the only job he'll get at any sort of decent level.

My dad went to Lithuania on business and he said the boss wouldn't let ANY lower staff make any decisions. Very typically Russian I think you'd agree

Rix isn't that bad, he just has a limit as to what kind of jobs he can do. Romanov has restricted his influence though, I think he'll do really well there with an experienced Director of Football.
