Before anyone gets the wrong idea of this thread I am NOT suggesting a TEF night out!!!!

Just to say really that for a good weekend out etc.  go to Aberdeen!!!!!!!!!  Theres fantastic nightlife loads of bars and restaurants and so so cheap to get there!!!  £39 return flight!

The people are so laid back and the choice of drinks is wicked!!!!! All the bars are open until 3 and on a sunday they're even open until 2am!!!  You can't go wrong!!!

Not at all!!!!  So much to see and do though.

Casinos, nightlife, all the facilities you can think of.

I get the impression you have never been.

There are a number of interesting stone circles in Aberdeenshire...which are unique in Britain...the recumbent stone circles.....so called because of the block on its side....must get to visit these one day.

I can see a stone circle by travelling 2 miles down the road!!

I live near Rollright stones, a stone circle from thousands of years ago.

Apparently an army turned to stone.

I guess thats one daytime option along with the various castles.  I was dreading going with regards to it being horrible but it was sunny (and very cold) all weekend with no rain!!!!!

You get some strange goings on at Rollright, Ralphy.....

Years ago I started a book which was a photographic and written record of interesting megalithic sites in Britain and France.....what with a family and so on,  its lapsed a bit, but I still do add some stuff... the Aberdeenshire sites are a complete blank though.

For some reason they're always reckoned to have bad vibes.

Witchcraft is practised there on a regular basis Reg.

If you go there, there is candle wax on the stones and burn marks in the grass.

The legend is true too, each time you count the stones, you get a different number.

There are a couple of outlying sites as well the King's Stone and The Whispering Knights...it was a witch that local legend has turned the knights to stone, and teh King's men as well.

As Long Compton thou canst not see
King of England thioushall not be
Rise up stick and stand still stone
For King of England thou shall be none

Thou and thy men men hoar stones shall be
   And myself an eldern tree.

Of course the army is waiting for a suitable time to awaken when the country is in need,
