Having watched the U21s use this formation to full effect last night I have been wondering if we should perhaps give it a go.

I know I poo-pood the idea a few weeks ago when Marky H suggested it, but I'm now wondering if it will give the team the impetous to keep going if we find ourselves 1-0 up again any time soon.

We could have something a little like this:

Code:

                 Heaton

Jenks/Gurney  O'Hanlon   Ifil   Nicho/Smith

         Smith/Gurney/McDermott

           Pook   Whalley/Migz

Bouazza/Heath/Curo/Thorpe  Fallon    Roberts.

As I said when Mark suggested it we'd be in trouble down the flanks - but if we can just go out there and force the issue ourselves and commit to going forward we might get something out of it.

I'd go 5-4-1 and try to keep a clean sheet, in all honesty

I'm definately beginning to see Smith as  the midfield anchor, he can tackle, seems committed, has two good feet, likes to push forwards and shoot, and we have a capable left abck relplacement with nicho, maybe it's worth  a try.

Id stick with 4-4-2 to be honest, the last two games this formation has worked well, its our lack of confidence when the other team gets back into the game thats the problem. Not the formation

When I look at the available players, my heart sinks... the manager could try out any combination and it'd make sod all difference.

A complete overhaul and start form scratch is what's needed .

That's out of the question though Reg, (of course) so I'm thinking all out attack might produce the goods! :|

nice choice  Cool

the 3 forwards would scare the shit out of oppostition defences if they were all on form. and we have shakes, nicolau & heath that could all be used in a front 3.

In our situation anything has to be worth a try.....but that is more or less what King and Iffy have been doing.

Probably the only time we've looked remotely like a proper team throughout a game, was v Forest, which was down to the simple fact that Summerbee although unfit at least still knew what to do with a ball when receiving it and what positions to take up when without the ball.

4-3-3 is the only thing that hasn't been tried this season! and why not give it a go? we are only going to concede anyway so why not try and score in the process?

Hard decsion to make really when you're in our situation. Try it against Stevenage when I'll be there to see us put 5 or 6 past the part-timers!

Don't think it would be advisable against Brentford, but then what do I know?!
