I'm surprised at little mention of Iffy not including them on Saturday, with an edict that they need to go at on loan to get some form.  These two not putting in a performance worth a shit, is the major reason King is no longer manager.  These two have to represent a high proportion of the gate money.  I thought it was commendable that Iffy took this step.  However, I have to wonder who will pick them up.  If you cannot get on the bench for the current Swindon side, you would have to be thinking about the level of a struggling Conference side, at best.  Presumably, if they don't pick up a loan, then they are on gardening leave along with Kingy.  With 20/20 hindsight, why didn't he sign two decent midfield players, we had Fallon, Robets and Caton (pity about his recent injury).

Also in hindsight, the home friendly against Poxford, was the writng on the wall.  Also, 4:5:1 gainst Tranmere and Walsall, pretty much showed that Kingy must have realized they were both crap.

Someone was sniffing around for Thorpe before the transfer window - he actually turned down a move, so someone looks like they'd take them.

Both are players who seem to like the ball being played into them and in fairness, the service to the box this season has been bollocks at best ...

Iffy basically said that having just told them they could go out on loan last week that he ddn't think they would be in the right frame of mind for it Saturday,. Or something like that.

Whilst Thorpe has been poop, I do think a lack of quality didn't help him. He makes some good runs only for the ball never to be played (Pook).

Cureo - he can stay at Rovers if that is where he ends up.

i think a loan move could both do them good! they will get more service and chances elsewhere so they can score goals hopefully and then come back here with confidence.

For fuck's sake, there's nothing wrong with Thorpe and Cureton, when will Swindon's management realise this?  How many decent chances have they missed between them?  I would wager less than 10.

They lack the service.  This problem comes about from losing Miglioranzi for much of the season so far and Whalley being forced to operate so deeply due to lack of a competent central midfielder who can sit in and protect the back four, ironically ala Port Vale's Danny Sonner who we oh so nearly signed.  Cureton hit a hat-trick in the reserves, and has been prolific at every club he's been at.

We NEED a hard central midfielder - how many fucking times does it need to be said?  Sod wages, sod the budget, drag a bloke in of this mould and we will improve 10 fold, gate receipts will go up and most importantly we will survive.  If we loan another striker or winger I will kill myself.  Thorpe and Cureton are owed a decent run in the team, and need some decent service to shine.  A nice start would be to get Roberts playing on the right, as other than Miglioranzi he seems to be the only player in the squad able to give any form of supply.

Did anyone really want Thorpe dropped on Saturday (considering Roberts was unavailable)?  Did Bouzza really do anything that Thorpe or Cureton couldn't?  Could he fuck.  He's another wasted loan, another stupid decision, and another step towards the drop.

Resorting to a chain smoking, tubby, anonymous Ben Wells on Saturday illustrates our problem perfectly.

I dont rate Thorpe .. hes too undisciplined for his age .. he should know better.. too small ... too slow .. just not good enuf

Cureton tho is another matter ... he has the right attitude .. is a bit younger .. I reckon with a longer run he would start to score the goals .. im certain of it .. we all wanted him and now he is being cast aside.

There is absolutely no way Cureton should be loaned out - he can be the saviour of our season if we can just work out a way of getting him decent service.

The "too small" excuse doesn't work in my book - Leon Knight was as small as they come and was prolific in this league.  Thorpe has been very similar to Cureton, although looked slightly sharper.  I don't like to rate player's attitudes from reports on here as people may have hidden agendas, and from what I've seen he's desperate to fight for the cause - he looked gutted after the Oldham game, and closed down the 'keeper in absolute desperation and a number of times against Franchise and the home game prior to that (I forget who we played).

This season we've lacked...

Effort (Duke)
Pace (Duke)
Versatility (Duke)
Quality crosses (Duke)

If we had him on the left wing, rather than at full back (because he was NEVER a defender), we'd be far more balanced

We could do with Jason Drysdale and Bobby Howe too....
