Out of curiosity more than anything else, I recently applied to Brentford FC for a position as a ticketing man, steward etc. They rang me today, while I'm half-cut so I probably didn't give a good first impression, and it's £25 for working 12.45 - 5pm. The ground is 18 miles from here. I will do a total of 8 hours training in 2 hour stints, gaining a NVQ qualification in stewarding. I will get to watch lots of Brentford. I will see hardly anything of Swindon. It's not hard is it, but I need the money.... Ermmm....

Being less than competent in the English language seems to be the first requirement of a steward, so slurring may have helped.....certainly didn't do Sandy any harm in her rise up the football back up career ladder..

Can't believe you even thought about it walrus  No disrespect to brentford stewards or anything but I'm sure you can aim higher than that!It would be like having an affair watching a different team all the time  you made the right decision!Good luck with trying to find another job and I know how annoying it is when you can't find one.seems to take forever. |

Some stewards are cool Where I sit in the arkells,there is an entrance just behind me in the middle and theres always the same steward stood there(and he's english and from swindon)he wears a little swindon hat  Hes like a family friend now and we always chat to him as he always has the goss.Sometimes the firemen stand with him.He threw peanuts at me during the game once that was quite funny! The stewards at blackpool scare me,they just do not stop talking. |
