theres a difference between getting to the mainstream by being different, new and refreshing, and selling out. or playing crappy rock.
alkaline trio got there because they're different. nickelshat got there by sucking ALOT of music label cock.
getting to the mainstream doesnt automatically mean you're better than the other bands. i could name hundreds and hundreds of better bands who dont want to compromise their music to sell more records.

Nickelback aren't on a massive label. Runner Records in fact. It was Nickelback single, how you remind me, that stormed them into stardom. It's not there fault if people like it. I also like Alk Trio. But never of the bands are mainstream. |

ok, you're kidding? both are mainstream!
and for a start its Roadrunner records, and they're a big, big label in rock, trust me. they're probably one of the biggest over here, Trustkill (a BIG american rock label, lots of "underground" bands) are distributed in the UK by roadrunner, and that has led to Bullet for my Valentine (who are wank) signing on Trustkill.

How many people have heard Bullet for my Valentine on here. I bet on about 4 at the most.
The biggest band Road Runner ever have had are Slipknot. Slipknot could easy go to a bigger label like Sony and Sell out.
Road Runner is no way bigger than Sony MCA Virgin Geffin etc. They are small compared to these.
