I'm pleased to say that j1mmy has signed the following full apology and retraction. As far as I'm concerned, that's an end to the matter, so long as he sticks to the undertakings given in this statement. I'm sure we'd all now like to move on to something more productive.
Martin Score: Retraction of false allegations concerning Paul Davis and TrustSTFC
I, Martin Score, wish to make the following retraction of libellous allegations I made against Paul Davis and the Swindon Town Supporters Trust (TrustSTFC) on the thisisstfc.co.uk internet forum, an internet discussion forum published by the Swindon Advertiser, on Friday 23rd September 2005.
In this posting I urged Swindon Town fans not to donate any money to the Red Army Fund collection organized by TrustSTFC as I falsely claimed that officers of the Trust were known to be stealing from this fund. In a later post made the following day, I specifically (and falsely) named Paul Davis as being “behind it all” i.e. this false allegation of theft. This was the latest of a series of attacks I have made on the good name of both TrustSTFC and Mr Davis in a variety of internet forums over many months. In this case I clearly overstepped the bounds of what is acceptable in making unsupportable and libellous allegations.
I fully accept that this allegation was wholly without foundation and deeply harmful to the good name and interests of both Mr Davis personally and TrustSTFC and its officers. I wish to apologise unreservedly to Mr Davis, TrustSTFC and the many volunteers who have worked hard to raise money for the Red Army Fund. I accept that both Mr Davis, and TrustSTFC and its officers have done nothing to deserve such a malicious libel and have at all times acted with the highest integrity.
I undertake never to repeat these or similar allegations in the future, either by publishing them in any medium, or in conversation, including in the form of electronic messages, with individuals.
Furthermore by way of recompense, I undertake to pay a token donation in the sum of £100 to the Red Army Fund, payment to be made in full by 30th November 2005.
I understand that should I renege on any of the terms set out above I may be liable to legal proceedings being taken against me by Mr Davis, TrustSTFC and/or any other individuals or entities whose interests or reputation were harmed by my false allegations.
