Perfection is not attainable

As much as I would love us to be in a play off fight I am sure 99% of us think that goal is probably out of our reach now this season.

So, relegations from L1 and promotion from the Banarama next season as it stands.

Shrewsbury in dire financial distress are already relegated.

Then its realistically any 3 of

47 Northampton - H to Shrewsbury (24th) A to Crawley (23rd) H to Wigan (16th)
43 Burton - H to Birmingham (1st) H to Cambridge (22nd) H to Wigan (16th) A to Charlton (4th)
43 Bristol R - H to Stevenage (15th) H to Reading (7th) A to Blackpool (10th)
38 Cambridge - H to Orient (6th) A to Burton (20th) H to Birmingham (1st)
37 Crawley - H to Exeter (14th) H to Northamtpon (19th) A to Shrewsbury (24th)

Still very open there for the last 3 places.

In the National League its far more convoluted with

Barnet 4 points clear of York in 2nd place with 3 games left.

York are 13 points clear of FGR so will not finish lower than 2nd with 3 games left.

FGR 7 points clear of Oldham with 3 games left.

Then its Oldham, Rochdale, Halifax and Gateshead all with 3 games left bar Rochdale who have 4 and all are seperated by just 3 points.

Then thers a 5 point gap between the play off places and Southend in 8th place and then Altrincham and Tamworth are 1 point beind then, all with 3 games left.

93 Barnet
----------------------
89 York
78 FGR
69 Oldham
67 Rochdale
67 Halifax
66 Gateshead
----------------------
61 Southend
60 Altrincham
60 Tamworth

It seems Barnet will likely win the league and get the only auto place but then it could easily be any of the next 6 in the play offs, but York are currently on a 5 game winning streak so much be favourites, also with them being so far ahead of the chasing pack too.

Barnet now 6 points clear of York after the weekend with 2 games left.

96 Barnet
----------------------
90 York
79 FGR
70 Oldham
68 Rochdale
67 Halifax
66 Gateshead
----------------------
64 Southend
63 Altrincham
60 Tamworth

In League 1 its now between

43 Burton - H to Cambridge (22nd) H to Wigan (16th) A to Charlton (4th)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
43 Bristol R - H to Reading (7th) A to Blackpool (10th)
40 Crawley - H to Exeter (14th) H to Northamtpon (19th) A to Shrewsbury (24th)
38 Cambridge - H to Orient (6th) A to Burton (20th) H to Birmingham (1st)
30 Shrewsbury *already relegated.

League 2 looks a bit more geographically friendly next season. And looking at the sides coming down and going up, league 2 is definitely there for the taking next season.

There is certainly not going be any stand out teams in our league next season if Notts County and Bradford do get promotion.

None of the clubs coming down or going up are "big guns" at this level by any means.

Absolutely almost zero chance of going to either for me.

I'm still hoping York can do it, but... Playoffs ..

My god. The absolute state of league 2 next year. Especially if Notts County join the current top 3 in being promoted.

The teams coming down are all pretty tinpot. Especially if Burton go down instead of Rovers. Although, Burton are pretty loaded these days I think.

Clem, all you have to do is give Holloway the tools and we will absolutely piss it next season.

Lots of clubs will be re-building again, whilst for once we have a solid core to build from.

This group have proved since Christmas we can mix it, so in a weaker league, with a full pre season and some fine tuning, I am optimistic.

But ONLY if he's backed.

Burton have very wealthy owners but are not investing on the pitch just behind the scenes at the moment, a bit like Carlisle's owners were last season.

----------------------------------------------------
Crawley 43 -27gd A to Shrewsbury left
Rovers   43 -29gd A to Blackpool left
