Winning the FOOTBALL LEAGUE trophy whilst also getting relegated from the FOOTBALL LEAGUE would be such a Swindon thing to do…

Didn’t that befall Chesterfield?

Nope, they won the EFL Trophy but got relegated from Div Three to Div Four, during the season STFC won the Div title under PdC.

No prizes for guessing who took Chesterfield down but somehow managed to simultaneously win some silverware for them...  Wink

Luton did but that was after points deduction! Gnapka scored the winner!

I went with a Luton mate.

This cup could be seen as a distraction BUT a win is a win and they put in a right performance.

Roll it on to Saturday!!

I don’t want to get carried away but the direction of travel seems good. I’d like to see Holloway and this squad with a few tweaks have a go next season - time for some stability. If the club rip things up change players and manager again we’ll be back to square 1.

Just watched the highlights.

Obviously all of this is pre-fixed by one of the commentators opening statements that Wycombe had made 9 changes from the weekends game…but…

Wycombe are top of L1.
Haven’t lost a competitive game since September (to Villa in the LC) that would indicate certainly in the group stages they took this competition with a degree of seriousness. Got to the final last year so obviously thought it a competition they can win.
Scored 55 goals in 26 games this season (we’ve conceded 49(or 47) in that time) so know where the goal is.

Of course it’s possible Wycombe made 9 changes & put their reserves out because they want to focus on the league but on paper it looks like we’ve done really well to get a positive result there.

Never a red card imo.
The fact that Tshimanga fell over whilst tapping the ball in was the most Tshimanga thing ever.

To be fair, most of his interviews have been good since he walked through the door. It's the sprinklings of nonsense that have ruined a few. When there's no talk about ghosts and shit he comes across well.

Brave decision to bring in some of the young players. Have to give him credit for that.

Watching the section after the final whistle- looks like Oboborh tweaked his knee. Watch him as he shakes hands with someone then turns to look for someone else.

Wycombe did make 9 changes, but to be fair we made 8 from the starting XI from Saturday.
It does go to show that we do have decent depth to the squad, even if the top level quality may be lacking.

Yeah...in the upcoming transfer window I think broadly speaking it's all about keeping the squad intact i.e. hold on to Will Wright (I'm convinced Lyndsey wants him at Franchise) and holding on to the young lads and seeing where that takes us...

Funny. We've gone from having a useless squad to worrying about losing it in the space of 4 weeks. Down to Holloway?

I think my view has always been similar to yours adje in that I've never thought that, player for player, our squad was as bad as results and league position suggested. All it needed was proper motivation / organisation aka coaching. So I would say that yes, that probably does have to be down to Holloway....
