I thought Mitchell looked a good prospect. Tough tackling, hard working and could pass a football.

Agreed. Nearly scored as well.

Bit of an overreaction to one result. This is the 11th time in a row we’ve been knocked out in the first round. In those previous years we’ve gone on to have decent seasons - including getting promoted.

Let’s give it at least 10 games before writing us off. Win Saturday and things will look brighter.

2015/16 - League One 15th
2016/17 - League One 22nd (Relegated)
2017/18 - League Two 9th
2018/19 - League Two 13th
2019/20 - League Two 1st (Promoted)
2020/21 - League One 23rd (Relegated)
2021/22 - League Two 6th
2022/23 - League Two 10th
2023/24 - League Two 19th

I'd probably count the 2019/20 season when we got promoted and 2021/22 season when we got into the playoffs as 'decent' seasons.  The rest have been pretty ordinary to say the least.  Hey ho, Up the Town!

I know he was on the pitch less time than Cotterell but thought he was more effective

He played a different position. When Mitchell came on Clarke sat back as the 6, where Cotterill played before and Mitchell took the Ofoborh position. That position as the 8 naturally looks more effective. He did alright for his first professional appearance, but way too soon to judge if he's up to it or not.

Yes, I particularly liked when the ball was in the far corners and you had to guess who might be in possession. Reminded me of one away game last year, where the camera kept on zooming in too close, lost the ball completely, zoom all the way out, rinse and repeat ad nauseam.
Thank Christ for that, thought it was just me as I was watching on the phone.  Terrible camera work,  struggled to see where the ball was at times. Glad we won’t be using that cameraman again- unless we go there in the FAC.

I have to disagree slightly, that "10 minute spell" was more like 35/40 I recall 4/5  brilliant saves by Wollacott when it was 2-2 and their goals came in the 89th minute when to be fair we were pushing for a winner.
Maybe a rose tinted view from one who was there, but that's how I saw it

Totally agree, I think doom and gloom is over doing it. I can see green shoots and i predict a top 7 finish

I think there is lots of potential there, and we will see it when they get used to each other.

Plum draw for Crawley at Brighton.
Just goes to show that winning cup ties can bring rewards.

That might never have actually been played before in a competitive fixture…

Yup!

My subconscious can't accept Brighton are premier league. If we got them it would take me a full half hour of "meh, crap tie" to realise!

Brighton were, coincidentally, the last team we played in a League Cup 2nd round tie - in 2014 after beating Luton, they won 4-2. Rohan Ince amongst their scorers, and future nearly Town boss Andrew Crofts played too, as well as England's Lewis Dunk.

They nearly got relegated from the Championship that year.

Brighton, another club we regularly played who have moved on both on and off the pitch. Sigh.

Rohan Ince scored one of the best goals ive ever seen in that game. I actually stood and applauded
