All about protecting their pitch I reckon. If they did use Ashton Gate they’d probably get 5000+ - would that be worth it for them?

In purely financial terms, probably not.  But it would be a good PR move.

I think in the rules of the competition the later rounds the games have to be played at the home teams first team stadium

None of the top 2 tier clubs even really publicise U18 cup fixtures until its quarter final, stage normally. Which it now is.

I mean, there literally is a mention of defeats "in cup competitions" to Wolves and Swindon. It doesn't linger on them though!
