Shade was very good for about 70 mins, thought Devoy was tidy and Bycroft is an upgrade on Ward. Cain looked good when he came on.

shade mom

bycroft looked worse than Ward to me.

for the benefit of DV - in this game. This doesn't mean he won't go on to be or greatest ever keeper.

Don't think there was really enough happening to judge the keeper either way.

Keeper looked like a young keeper making his league debut.

Was erratic at the start but after that - he didn’t really have much to do other than picking the ball out the net.

Shade & Kokolo got forward well. Back line looked better with FBT in it.

Between Shade and Koloko for me. Both did OK.

Kinsella for me.  Like FBT, he did the simple stuff well.

No arguments about Shade's pre-eminence.  The once diffident player has become an absolute workhorse and was always  willing to both receive and also to hold onto the ball.

I feel he lacked quality runs off the ball to maximise his options today - off his right to threaten on the inside himself or a through ball for a threatening Kemp-like midfielder or on his left for a dink across the box or a cut back.  Perhaps Glatzel and Devoy bedding in more will help Shade more next time?

The game largely passed me by, but a good time was had before & after.
On sober reflection, one bright spot that did stand out amidst all of the running around & honest endeavour was FBT's hair so that gets the vote.
His return might make a difference to the team going forward but the goals still fly in at the other end at pretty much the same rate whether he plays or not.

Brewitt is a bigger miss defensively, 2.5 v 1.7 goals per game. Yeah, I know.

It's an obvious conclusion but it's pretty damning that we don't have anyone that comes close to being classed as a key defender, one that makes a difference in keeping goals against down to one per game or less.
A team that wants to succeed in this league will need 3 or 4 of them at least.
