Brilliant result. First proper 'limbs' I've been involved in for a while after FBT's thunderbastard!

What does 'limbs' mean??

According to ChatGPT:

In soccer terminology, "limbs" is often used colloquially to describe the enthusiastic and celebratory reactions of players and fans when a goal is scored. When a team scores a goal, players and fans might jump, run, and express their excitement by waving their arms and limbs in exuberance. The term "going limbs" or "going full limbs" is often used to capture the idea of players and fans wildly celebrating by moving their limbs in various directions due to the excitement of a scored goal. This term is more commonly used in informal or social contexts rather than in official match commentary.

Never understood ‘top bins’

The goal isn’t a wall of bins?

Lots of exited jumping around and waving of arms... strange expression... quite descriptive though I suppose...

In reply to the original post of course...

Me neither. The "doors" bit seems completely superfluous

Conversely terms you dont hear in football now.

Putting "swaz" on a shot, or even swerve is rarely used.

The Ron Atkinson coined stepover he called the "lollipop".

Thanks for the info!

I've just been watching the World Cup Semi-final, sat in a Wifi hotspot on a Naturist camp site in Croatia.

Although I was extremely pleased that we won, no limbs or other appendages were waved when England scored. No Semi either...

Early Doors is an old theatre reference. Back in the 1800s sometime people that had paid extra got to go into the theatre before the riff raff (presumably) and this was then known as early doors.

Quite why it's used in football/sports parlance is anyone's guess!
