Has nyone seen this new AI chat thing that has been released recently?

https://chat.openai.com/chat

Looks like it could be a complete game changer with AI technology. The uses could be huge and will ask a lot of questions about education, jobs that could be obsolete, art forms like writing etc.

A great way to waste time too, I asked it to write a poem about the football team Swindon Town. Mention the great players of the past, Don Rogers, Shaun Taylor, Jan Aage Fjortoft, Sammy Parkin and Danny Invincible. Include the winning of the league cup trophy in 1969 and conceding 100 goals in the premier league. Here's what it came up with

Swindon Town, a team of fame
Once graced the fields with great acclaim
Don Rogers, Shaun Taylor, legends of the past
Jan Aage Fjortoft, Sammy Parkin, stars that shone fast

But perhaps the greatest of them all
Was Danny Invincible, a name to recall
He led the team to victory, the League Cup trophy won
A moment of triumph, a moment of fun

But alas, not all tales have a happy end
For in the Premier League, goals they did defend
One hundred times the ball found the net
A tough season, but the team did not forget

For Swindon Town, a team of pride
Will always strive to win, to never hide
Their legacy lives on, through players old and new
Swindon Town, a team that's always true.

That's very cool. And kids/students won't ever need to create their own creative writing ever again!

But Danny Invincible wasn’t here in 1969.    No No Head Hurts

AI is now moving so fast it's fucking hilarious. It's literally going to close businesses and put people out of jobs overnight with the advancements announced in the last few days.

Midjourney V5 is fucking mental, ChatGPT 4 is mind blowing and then you look at MS adding it with Microsoft Copilot 365 (and Google's version in Workspace) and I'm properly blown away by what's happened over the last few days.
Blow Up

In part I'm scared. (Is it moving too fast for me to keep up? How soon will it do my job?) And on the other I think it's so fucking amazing to be around to witness it, and feel we need to learn it and embrace it now, because those that grasp it are going to be on the cusp of something that I think is going to have a bigger impact than the internet.

Here's a link to MidJourney's showcase images if you're interested (again, generated by AI).

Here's Microsoft's future of work talk yesterday

Google's short video about its Workspace and AI (a bit like a 2 minute version of MS's video).

Sometimes I’m glad I’m too old to bother.

Where’s me inkwell and quill?

Sometimes I’m glad I’m too old to bother.

Where’s me inkwell and quill?

Quote
Write a poem that includes the lines, "Sometimes I’m glad I’m too old to bother", and, "Where’s me inkwell and quill?"

Sometimes I’m glad I’m too old to bother,
With the world that moves so fast,
With all the noise and the clutter,
And the things that never last.

But then there are those moments,
When my heart starts to thrill,
And I yearn for simpler times,
Where’s me inkwell and quill?

For there’s a magic in the writing,
A power in the pen,
A way to capture fleeting thoughts,
And hold them tight again.

So I dip my quill in the inkwell,
And let my words take flight,
I lose myself in the writing,
And forget the world’s strife.

And in those moments of creation,
I’m young once more, it seems,
For age is just a number,
And dreams are ageless dreams.

So if you’re feeling tired and weary,
And the world seems too much to bear,
Just grab your inkwell and quill,
And let your soul take to the air.
