Pre match searching in vain for the Museum of Mineworkers Solidarity in The Widow Frost.

Arriving in pub gone midday for a Saturday away day.
Piss poor but unavoidable on this occasion.

So, Mansfield, one of the more insular venues on the L2 circuit and there is some competition in that category.

They were in form last time here & we didn't do ourselves justice on the night.
Still unbeaten at home but a bit of understated confidence isn't misplaced ahead of the game.

Should be a good atmosphere.
Their lot make a bit of noise with the aid of a drum of course.

Ideal conditions so the ball will zip across the surface.
Looking for a fast start same as Tuesday & see where it takes us.
Didn't look like an obvious front 2 after the changes at Bradford. Shade looked to have a free role & was up there more often than not, but those watching from afar get a much better view of the bigger picture.

There is normally a semi feral creature that "greets" visitors on the way to away end, accompanied by the imminent teen pregnancy companion of course.
It's almost like crossing a picket line of sorts, which is not unheard of in these parts.

Anyway, back to the game.
Have we now missed our last 5 competitive penalties?
Hopefully that won't become an issue as the season unfolds.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

I'd quite like to see a 4-4-2 diamond with Williams as the 10, we get so much width from our FBs while Darcy and Gladwin often drift out too so wouldn't leave us looking too narrow I wouldn't have thought.
I know Williams prefers to play centrally as an attacking midfielder, that could indeed work.

Under the circumstances though, and I rarely say this, I think I would prefer 352

         Brennan      Baudry     Clayton
Hutton                   Khan                  Iandolo
        Darcy                           Williams
            Jephcott         Wakeling

I am still not entirely convinced Wakeling can play through the middle on his own, he had 3 good chances on Tuesday and didn't do great with them TBH. For me he needs a free role, going wherever he wants much like Shade, so for me he could be a better impact sub and then play the 361 with...

I'm becoming more convinced that he will stick with his preferred formation

TBH I think he will choose the starting line up from Tuesday again but with Iandolo at LB for the injured FBT, Darcy in for the poor performing Aguiar and Jephcott in the middle pushing Wakeling wide again.

Something like this is definitely worth re-visiting at some point.
Think we’d need/want Gladwin in there though.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we tried this if/when Williams has gone to sit on the Welsh bench at the World Cup…

Yeah Gladwin should probably be in there but without him it gives a little more defensive stability IMO.

You could well be right about the Wales call up situation though.

Is Devine still injured?

Surprised we haven’t seen anything of him, bar the one Pizza Cup appearance

Tough game today. Hope we give it a good go but won't be too furious if it doesn't come off.

Yeah he played fairly well in the Pizza Cup TBH, I expected him to get game time at Rovers in the same comp last week but he didnt even get on the bench. Liked the look of him.

Very tough game, only 1 win up there since 1978, a run of 11 games with the single win.

Friends of mine who are Stags supporters say we have a good chance of a result, the way they havevbeen playing recently.
