If I remember rightly a coach load of Bournemouth fans stopped in Devizes on the way to the game & caused some trouble

I don't remember that but recall a couple of hundred Town lads getting escorted out of the Stratton Bank down to the Townend before kick off and lots of missiles being thrown by both sets of fans on the bank.

This reminds me of what matches could be like back a few years after I started going (shitty v pompey), can't imagine it now. Only 5 arrests

Fortunate to have the memories from the 70’s and 80’s.
Not the same now, never will be.
I guess being young it was all an adventure then, the adrenaline rush before, during and after a game no comparison now. Just difficult to explain unless you witnessed it.
Scary moments but probably the best days of my life watching football.
Loved it.

Exactly as you put it. The late 70's was definitely my best era of supporting the Town but if you're of a younger generation you wouldn't understand.

Late 60s was my introduction. Obviously halcyon days. Amazing to think that you could get "ringside" seats back then, benches situated between the pitch and the old Shrivvy stand.

I'm happy that the crap from the 70s and 80s is a thing of the past
