Fixture release day - Thursday 23 June

Season starts – 30 July, 2022

League Cup Round One – 10 August, 2022

Earlier this season due to winter World Cup, not that Leagues 1&2 are having a break. Hopefully means less Tuesday night games this season though. Must mean preseason friendlies must start late June. Not much of a break.

I assume we'll have the usual away friendlies Supermarine, Chippenham, Melksham, etc. Home maybe might pull in Villa with the loan relationship we've had? Think Man City already said they'd not be available.

Genuinely couldn't tell you. It seems to be getting earlier and earlier. Swear it was usually mid August but its crept earlier over the years already.

Dunno where to put this but a few clubs (I’ve seen Norwich & Bournemouth so far) putting out their releases list.

36 year old Gary Cahill anyone?

He was on £75k a week. 2019 to 2021. Don't know about the last year.

He's one of them where if he can't get a Championship club offering £10k a week, he'll just retire.

This season we played our opening and last games of the season away does that mean next season we will be at home or is it just luck how the computer works out the fixtures?

Just luck. Boxing Day is one have in the past seemed to have loads in a row at home and then loads in a row away.

Just looking at the movers and shakers and its pretty shite for northern away games, Crewe coming down and Stockport coming up, both dull grounds I have already been to.

I'm guessing there will be a scramble for Wimbledon away tickets

Ireland or Scotland would be good or anything abroad.

Just looking at places we've toured outside of England in the past on the great website that is swindon-town-fc.co.uk.

Most recently we've been to Italy and one training camp in Portugal where we played Rovers behind closed doors.

Most common seems to be Ireland, mainly Republic but one Northern Ireland tour in 99 too. We've also done Finland a bunch of times in the 90s, Cyprus once.

Getting away preseason dried up early 2000s until we didn't go anywhere until the famous Copa Ibiza win of 2006 followed by Austrian tours where Simon Cox scored a wonder goal while we were still in training kits.

We also set up camp in the south of the Netherlands a couple of times in the 90s, playing mostly non league sides there on what looks like a local park. Can't imagine that was the best preparation.

Touring outside of England wasn't very common before the 90s. Outside of a few Scottish tours, we went to Malta in 1986 and did both Germany and France in 1957.
