Vale had 6800 home fans. Terrible.

Bit harsh, not sure Swindon's second team could muster that amount.

Don't bet as it's a mug's game.  I put a small e/w bet on Commodore.
I was just pissed that a 0-0 stinker somehow became a 0-1 to a side without one recorded shot on target.

Tbf, despite the stats saying no shots on target, Jojo actually made a good diving stop which he cleverly punched away wide.

An afternoon to forget but good luck with Commodore.

Garner:
- No threat for them all game. Four shots and 1 on target
- We were completely in control from a defensive perspective
- One moment and we lost it
- Didnt do enough in the second half
- Turned ball over. Runner we should have tracked. JoJo came when he shouldnt have
- Didnt do enough as an attacking unit in the second half
- Disappointing result
- We have to take our chances to win the game
- First half we were good, controlled the game, but should have taken chances
- Lack of quality in the penalty area
- Decision making in 2nd half not as good as first half.
- Made too may mistakes with the cross and the pass and the finish
- Unfortunate to take 1 point from last 3 games
- Everything that can seems to be going against us
- Need to lift v quickly
- If we win on Friday and Monday then its a differet complexion
- There is a lot of good in that changing room
- Still a lot to play for
- JOB had been unwell. But defence did well last week. Deserved another clean sheet today
- Barry end product: Need to keep working with him. He has to improve his finishing. If he keeps getting there he will score goals
- Run of wins needs to come now.
- Still a lot to play for. We are disappointed
- Tomlinson was just cramp
- Reed: Top player. Done really well for us and is a key part for us
- Things can change very quickly.
- End of the season that matters
- Cant control the finish and execution. We focus on coaching players to get ball into the right areas. We need to get more zip into our play.
- We dont have a huge squad and players are coming back from injury

Well, we know where we're goin'
But we don't know where we've been
And we know what we're knowin'
But we can't say what we've seen
And we're not little children
And we know what we want
And the future is certain
Give us time to work it out

I agree, although we are a worse team now than December.  We had far more threat in the team then, even if it still looked very stiffled.

That summary of Garners comments grates on me a bit.  Of course you can coach the other aspects of the game and it worries me if he truly thinks you cannot.  I go back to my half time comment about Davison's positioning for the Williams chance right before half time.  It's a shocking position for a forward to take, especially when he is the lone striker.  If he isn't being shown the types of runs and positions he should be finding then there is little hope he improves.

This is where you end up when you put together a team of such mixed levels of ability.  We remain a decent team at keeping the ball, we have a few good players who can cut teams apart when on song in this division, but we are so predictable and have such gaping holes when any sort of pressure is applied to us defensively.

Examples for me are Aguiar, Mitchell-Lawson, Davison - these three are simply not good enough if you were looking to go up.  Aguiar had a good game or two when flying on the confidence gained from performances at a division several levels lower, but you can't retain that forever and it's obvious to me he is not at this level (yet).

Davison is a lower league effort player, but has all the natural striker instincts displayed by Norris when he was here.

Mitchell Lawson is the typical Academy player who earned his slot on "potential" rather than talent.  The problem with those types is many never end-up getting the talent bit.  He looks like that.  Barry was wasteful (his decision making is terrible, but he is young enough to develop that) but he had a presence when on the pitch.  As soon as Lawson was on, nothing came from that part of the pitch at all.  That is not coincidence.

Since the January window, we've put together a mid-table team when all combined.  Relied almost entirely on McKirdy to offer something - which he certainly can.  He is likely playing a league too low.

I get to watch a lot of MLS, and we look exactly like one of those teams (a level or two behind mind).  You watch those games and see some really good talent but you also see players in the same team who really shouldn't be playing in the same league.  You see teams quite well coached, striving to match the way the big leagues play these days, but not with enough talent to make that work with the right intensity.  That's us.

I still have my long term doubts about Garner, but the January window killed this season.

Good analysis.  I go to MLS matches and agree.  I will say though in January our defense got better with transfers but offense suffered

"Garnerball" is wank. 60%+ possession means fuck all if you're gonna shit yourself an own goal, and look like scoring once every 10 games. Shite.
Fwiw I thought Newport were terrible.  What does that say about us?

Baudry (Went back to this as I thought he spoke well and with passion):
- A difficult loss. It was an important game
- Doesn't mean the league is finished
- Six to go. If we win most of them will be in with a chance
- We can't fault anyone.
- Group is great to work with
- Last 2 games. Don't seem to be able to score. Can't fault anyone
- Until the lady does somethings (Fat lady sings) :-)
- The goal. Midfield runners. Lot of things could have been prevented
- They weren't anywhere near scoring the whole game
- A point wouldn't have helped anyway
- Frustrating that it doesnt fall our way. The offside goal - There wasnt anything in it
- Its the best group I have worked with.
- We have to stick with our principals
- Its hard to play against a block like that
- We need to work it. We can't rush it
- Do you want us to play like Sutton?
- I hear people. What do they want? Do we bang it and try to win second balls?
- You need to stick with your principals. Thats why teams play differently against us
- If every time we lose the ball one time we changed to direct play - would it work? We'd rush it and lose it more
- Baudry played against Swindon the year before they got promoted. They were terrible. They kept playing it around the back and we punished them. We scored 4 times. The next year they got better and were promoted
- The young lads are great. We need to pick them up
- I've been in a lot of teams and a lot of squads. This team wont give up.
