The bizarre manner in which Doughty left the club and retired from football looks like was for a genuine reason... Patrick Bamford has even got in on it by the sounds of it! Will Hylo become Swindon's next 'Official Vegan Atheltic Shoe' Sponsor though? Either way, best of luck to him!

Was there anyone who thought it wasn't for a genuine reason? I thought we all knew he wanted to concentrate on his business!

I thought it was common knowledge he left to do that?

I was always under the impression it was to do with the pressures and demands of starting a family mixed with not getting on with Wellens personally. Knew nothing of the business..

Exactly this nothing else.
Notwithstanding he is worth a few bob and losing his Dad dealt him a severe blow.

Just love how rumours get spread about falling out and all that.
One thing about footballers they come from extreme and diverse backgrounds, that alone in a team sport coupled with pressure inevitably creates tension.

He did an interview a while back where he discussed his business and reasons for quitting the game.

The playing to empty stadiums pretty much sealed it for him from what I remember him saying? He had the business and a new born and prioritised those over pandemic football.

Good luck to him. On his day (and he had more good days than bad) a class player. Hope it works out or, if not, his next idea does!

Quality bloke, quality player. Never doubted his integrity in retiring for a second
