Meh. No knee-jerks here, but more maturity required. It's a pity nearly all of the MoM candidates aren't our players. The new defence looks individually promising, but we're crying out for a leader on the pitch to guide all these kids.

Bless to the family member with the vote for Iandolo, and his patchy out-of-position cameo.

Pretty obvious who gets the MoM award today...
In terms of personnel...can we not convince Doughty to come back now that Lucerne Lee and his dodgy dealing has fucked off?
A Doughty type in midfield with a largely level head, intelligent vision and experience would probably be the kind of thing Town needs. Give him the armband too. Town definitely need a genuine leader because I don't there is much leadership strength coming from the manager.

The way he spoke about football, it sounds like he never really enjoyed it that much. He just happened to be quite good at it and enjoyed Swindon. Think he sounded more than happy to be shot of the irritation of caring about a football match. I must admit, at times I wish I could do the same!

Indeed. I think when someone already has the financial security it can be quite difficult to be motivated about other things. Especially in something as trivial as sport (if you don't need to be in it). I've seen that before - lads who are incredibly talented but just not interested in the whole "culture" or environment of professional football. On top of that, if Doughty is a straight laced, ethical and morally conscious businessmen it's likely he won't want to be anywhere near elite footy. The feeling is mutual. I do wonder on several occasions what is all the point of watching some overpaid blokes to play sports - which just so happens to have some geographical/generational affiliation with myself but as many often reference, it becomes a form of family as well as social interaction; totally understand the difficulty with any type of unconditional love. Effing Town. Can't live with it...can't live without it!

The craziness with "supporting" nearly ALL teams in any sport is that the vast vast vast majority do not win anything. It's statistically a freak that someone gets to see a successful team over a generation - like say Man Utd fans in the 90's/00's.
Even if you decide to choose a team based on likely success, you end up being a Liverpool fan in 1992 and watch them miss out for years to come! It's a fools errand.
To then end-up saddled with shit teams, like Swindon, is some form of masochism. I love sport - it fucking hates me.

Some times fine margins make the difference between success and failure If only Garner learnt tactically what those margins were!

Even worse for someone a bit younger, I know several Blackburn fans my age. And a few who started as Blackburn and switched to Newcastle when Shearer left, which doesn't mean it gets much better.

Tomlinson looks like an upgrade on both wing back positions. Trying him on the right might increase the overall attacking threat with Iandolo back on the left. Although Iandolo on the right hasn't really been mooted. Not sure that playing two inverted wing backs is a fad yet, but might be worth a go.
