I was always under the impression it was to do with the pressures and demands of starting a family mixed with not getting on with Wellens personally. Knew nothing of the business..

Exactly this nothing else. Notwithstanding he is worth a few bob and losing his Dad dealt him a severe blow. Just love how rumours get spread about falling out and all that. One thing about footballers they come from extreme and diverse backgrounds, that alone in a team sport coupled with pressure inevitably creates tension. |

The playing to empty stadiums pretty much sealed it for him from what I remember him saying? He had the business and a new born and prioritised those over pandemic football.
