What are the best pubs to look out for in Newport, for good atmosphere/good beer/ hopefully away fan tolerant ? The Windsor castle pub was the one all the town fans congregated last time, we’ll probably head there again.

Pre match bore da, shw mae in The John Wallace Linton. Hopefully our away run doesn't get torpedoed today.
Didn't see many rugger buggers on the delayed serious drinkers express out of Swindon this morning. Lightweights.
The recovery from the soft tissue injuries sustained at Crewe has gone well but will avoid standing near an aisle this time.
Much as pains me to admit it, Newport is one of the better footballing away days, apart from when we get relegated. The castle will look nice when it's finished and there are the crystal clear blue waters of the River Usk to gaze upon.
Geographical awareness is generally pretty poor in the UK so hopefully those visiting Newport for the first time today are not heading for the Isle of Wight ferry.
Will be hoping that the team can pick up where they left off before the break and that rustiness won't be an issue. Yet another of McKirdy's former clubs today, so he should be raring to go.
Roy Carter sprung to mind the other day. An elegant midfielder who served both clubs well. Missed the penalty against Newport at home that would have kept us up in '82. Good player. Wonder what he's up to these days.

Bloody hell, completely forgot about the suspension as well. Williams to fill that role then or give Gilbert a go?

Garner seems to like JML in that role, Gilbert has yet to impress me, but then again JML is awful in front of goal or even Payne could be an option.

Agree about Gilbert. Wouldn't mind JML being given a start as he has done well overall in the trophy games & not dissimilar to McKirdy in terms of directness. Payne would be the safe option though. Should be quite an attacking line up I'd say.

Absolutely, my main issue with JML is his finishing, he gets in great positions and slices or weakly hits shot or just plain misses theball, if he could improve that side of his game he will be a good player, as it stands hes probably at his level, fringe L2 player. JML is the closest match for McKirdy for directness, Gilbert is a ditherer around the box and indecisive so far.

The rowdy lot arrived in the pub and they weren't singing Land of my Fathers that's for sure. Decamped to the Godfrey Morgan over the bridge. Decent pub.
Looked like a low key police presence thus far.

The pre-match ITK chat is that McKirdy will be in the away end. Legend, what could go wrong
