I'll be in the Beehive on Friday in the top bar at 7 for a Reg Remembrance Pint and a reading. I'll email the 'hive now to check details. September 3rd - 'the day when war broke out', as my (much) older sister puts it.

Beehive emailed: people start gathering at 7. I'm speaking at 8.15. Hope to see some of Reg's online chums and sparring partners, as well as Beehive mates of Reg. Family too, perhaps.

For all those TEFers who fancy a memorial pint for Reg tonight. People to start gathering in the top bar from 7. I ring a bell at 8.15 to deliver a eulogy. Hope the trains are running back to Stroud ...

As much as I couldn’t hear very much, that was awesome. Thanks to all involved

I didn't know of the guy but feel the warmth for him throughout this forum. Hats off to all involved in remembering Reg and his legacy will last forever.

I have a pale ale in hand and I’m raising it, one last time, to Reg.

Swindon born but resident of Stroud for donkey's years, Reg wondered who I would support back in 2017 when STFC played FGR for the first time. (I had followed FGR when they were non-league.) This was - and is - my proud reply. (I live surrounded by FGR fans; one irritated me on my walk to the allotment yesterday.) http://footballpoets.org/#poets_poems_featured-2

Yep. Football has provided a more consistent source of loyalty than anything else in my life. Since I first set foot in the CG, I've changed virtually everything else that matters to me over time - partners, friends, family, tastes, even something I considered so intrinsic as my sense of Britishness - all have varied, evolved, come and gone.
STFC is one the element of my life that has been entirely constant, through thin and thinner.
