This game has epitomised us this season. We knock it around okay in 2/3rds of the pitch, but just dont have it in the final third. We have been fortunate to claim the last couple of wins (an offiside goal allowed, and a goal wrongly disallowed), and we have got very lucky today with that pen. This luck isn't going to last the season.
Absolutely amazed Garner thinks we have enough in the attacking third, a striker to actually play off was a must. Too oftern the lauded Payne's final paass or shot is scuffed.
Still considering where we were 2 weeks pre the start of the season, i shouldn't complain too much i guess. We either need to be better at Plan A, or we need a Plan B we dont currently have.

Strange game that. First forty minutes or so we used the ball really well and controlled possession, but both sides had chances and both keepers made excellent saves. Either side of half time we went very wobbly indeed and after the goal we just showed no real ideas about how to break down a side sitting in deep and defending a lead, other than a lot of long range shots which the excellent Anang was more than equal to. Could easily have conceded again on the break and it looked for all the world like 1-0 Stevenage.
Then the penalty came more or less out of nowhere, JML cleaned out by Cuthbert, I can't see why there'd be any real doubt about that being a penalty. Probably deserved it over the course of the match, but probably didn't deserve it on our play after going behind. Sickener for Stevenage who performed really well whilst outgunned.
Individual performances wise, I thought Payne's work off the ball and on was impressive, Conroy looked solid and I liked the look of Gilbert when he came on. Odimayo defended well enough but his distribution was exposed going forward - Stevenage were happy for him to have the ball even well into their half.
Overall not a perfect performance, but when we were good we were very good and with Williams, KKH and Grant to come back, this side is much further ahead of where I thought they'd be at this stage of the season.

deserved the draw, but lack of cutting edge and pace/urgency in attack a concern

1-1 FT
Although it looked as if they had a claim for a penalty in the last seconds!
Another melee after the whistle.
Draw a fair result
All very well stroking the ball around but there has to be a purpose!

First ever draw in this fixture.
Got away with that. We need to change our game plan when we go behind, at least as we get closer to the end.

Something has to change. We create very little. Hopefully Gilbert can put some umph into our forward play.
The pointless tippy tappy stuff is doing my head in.
Still, a good start especially minus 3 players!

It was clearly a tongue in cheek comment but I'm genuinely sorry for the current situation faced for your family.

Get used to it, thats the style we have brough Garner for, and thats why we didnt sign any proper strikers. You may not like it, but we need to get behind it. Or you can like the idiot Phil Smith on the radio who clearly only thinks there is one way to play football.
