Cheers, have been looking at Nikon dslr's. Similar spec to the Sony, so on the right track at least.
If you are thinking about astro photography, consider Canon kit as there are loads of widgets available for Canon. Probably the best served dslr brand in astronomy imaging accessories.

Jupiter from last night.
A stack of the best 500 from 5000 video frames.

Just visible on the full image are 3 of the 4 Galilean moons- 2 to the right and 1 to the left.

You can keep your old boots on but it does bring up the question of the saying "He's a wise owl."

Was it an actual mockery originally, like several sayings? Similar to when we say something like
"You know Dangerous Dave, he's a bit special!"
