Currently at Notts cricket. Summer of ‘69 is one of their songs when they hit a six. Have we ever had a ‘69 chant based upon this song? The current ‘Wembley Way’ song is a bit of a mouth full.

I got my first real trophy
Won it at Wembley
Held it till my fingers bleed
It was the summer of ‘69

That’s all I got...

##...Town got their first real trophy,
Won it for the very first time.
Played on through the Wembley mud,
Was the League Cup of '69...

Town with some guy called Noble,
Don Rogers and Captain Harland.
Smart scored, Bob Wilson got stage fright,
We should've known then, the pitch was hoof marked...

Oh - We still love John Trollope,
A love that seems to last forever.
And if we had the choice,
Downsborough would always be there!
That was - the best win of our life...##

 Hmmm

You take the heads so that you don't ever forget.'
