That sounds as if he sees Simpson as our main striker and is just looking for another young tyro to back him up.

I reckon those waiting for an experienced striker will be disappointed.

Do you at least now acknowledge that we are after another striker?

I just don’t like his terminology. Just say ‘striker’ and not forwards or attackers.

I’m probably being pernickity.

I don't like the term forward either. It's too vague, but it seems to be the way nowadays.

And I think you are being a tad pernickety. Although forward does not necessarily mean 'striker' - it still can mean exactly that.

Yeah not like centre forward has been a well used term for decades.

We still need more height in the team as we're not much of a threat from corners & set pieces

Yes, but there's centre forward, which means a striker of sorts. And 'forward', which nowadays seems to mean any attacking player, including centre forwards.

The last goal we scored came from a set piece.

Fair point, but overall we're a very small team

I've got one!  Smiley

From their forum:

"Post by tangerinedream on about an hour ago
Swindon Town provide the opposition at Moor Lane as we go in search of our first league victory of the season. The Wiltshire side experienced a fairly torrid 2020/21 campaign having been relegated after winning the league the season before under the charge of ex Salford manager Richie Wellens.  Their opening three league games has seen a return of one win, one draw and one loss and they'll be looking to replicate their last visit to Moor Lane when they emerged as 3-2 winners.  They'll certainly not be lacking in support as of yesterday morning they'd sold an impressive 750 tickets which should make for a lively atmosphere. I'm hoping that we can finally put in a 90 minute performance and improve on our finishing after having let off the opposition in our previous three league fixtures."

You know what. It’s been stifling here for weeks on end and I’m getting crankier and grumpier by the day. Chuck in our new neighbours having the strangest sleeping habits and I’m dangling on a string atm!
