I love Docs. Treated myself to oxblood three years ago made in Northants. Great but wish I had got the 10 hole now as they seem to have stopped making them. The boots last me years as I don't use them for work. Always wear the shoes working and usually get three or more years out of them. You can get the industrial docs a bit cheaper and good quality from Amazon but only in black. They are great for festivals.  In terms of longevity, the newer ones from Asia that I have bought have been hit and miss. Soles wearing quickly or splitting have happened with a couple.

The 10 holes are 1490 and 8 holes are 1460.

Are the Asia made ones the £35 a pair options? I've seen some for £99.99 with RRP at £149. I assume these would be the 'Made in England" ones?

Just had a look at the DM website. The Made in England are £189. Worth the extra in my opinion over the standard £149 if not using them for work....and as a one off!
I would be careful of cheap docs as there are bad reviews out there. Have looked around for genuine bargains from workwear and Army Navy but didn't find much. Looks like DM are keeping their product close to home these days hence the inflated price.

FIFY. yes.

no I think that DM moved their production to Asia for cost saving. But they retained a manufacturing presence in England that they charge a premium for.

Weird really, it's like they are saying the Asia made ones are less good. Which was backed up in this thread.

for £35 you'll be getting some ropey fakes. avoid

Anything less than £175 is likely made overseas. Mrs Pieman has 2 pairs of non- Englund boots, expensive but no reason to doubt the quality and longevity. £100 and £150 a piece 😯

So I'm alone in thinking DMs look a little orthopaedic.

Cherry reds, use a mixture of DM cherry Red polish, then use black polish which darkens them slightly and looks the dogs bollocks in all the cracks and creases then finally finish off with clear polish..
