I think I used to pay £3.50 to get in the Townend in the mid-late 70's

And the programme was a single sheet of paper costing 2p if my memory serves me correctly !!.

7p in the 72/73 season
5np in the 70/71 season

I can remember the Corona pop wagon coming around and Hubbly Bubbly pop at speedway
Used to go around the local building sites in the evening with a mate collecting discarded Corona bottles and taking them back to the local shop,  3d back on each one, 5 bottles were worth 1/3d, which we used to buy 10 Players Number 6 cigarettes, Those were the days (Old Fart).

Single sheet was due to strikes and power cuts.

I remember Corona when it was 2d/2p return on the bottle cap!

Not sure the returns would be that attractive to organised crime (which I suspect was also going on in the 70s).

Ahh, the decade when music became no longer all about the light show and the 20 minute guitar solo.
