Was there and still cherish that day with my dear old dad. Would have to be up there with one of the greatest day's of my life. Being a third division side and achieving what they did meant so much more then. That team was outstanding and we will never see the likes again.

Was a young lad at the time and my memory of that day was looking round after Bobby Gould scored the late equalizer and seeing grown men in tears. But the coach stopped in Maidenhead on the way back for a pre booked steak meal. Great times!!

I was only 3 but apparently stood cheering on the team when they drove down through Gorse Hill on the open top bus.

My memory has faded since then! Cheesy

My dad and all of my cousins and uncles were at Wembley that day and all still tell the tales, the tales I was brought up on, desperate for Town to emulate those heroes of Swindon Town folklore.

By the age of 5 I could name the Swindon side and had the programme and all the Sunday newspapers from the day after.

The feat that day should never be underestimated.

Quote
In 1969
On league cup final day
The Arsenal went to Wembley
They walked the Wembley Way
They thought they'd have it easy
They thought they'd win the cup
But along came Swindon Town FC and fucked the bastards up

I wasn’t around back then but it gives me a warm glow to know that my old man has witnessed every Town Wembley appearance.

For me ‘69 has to be the pinnacle. A cup final is what Wembley should be about, not the awful play-off concept and certainly not cup semis.

I’ll drink out of my Wembley heroes mug today.

You may well have sold that to me! It was bought for my old man and definitely a good number of years ago.
