Facetime issues.

So, have updated Ipad to 14.3 and am trying to facetime the father in law who has an old ipad mini running the ios 9.3.6 (it cant be updated anymore and he only uses it for facetime)

When we facetime him it cuts out after several minutes and the call drops out, its only started doing it after the latest software update on my ipad.

Apple just come uo with some guff about resetting the device, which we have done.

I know the ideal solution would be to just get him a brand new ipad but we dont want to spend that just for the sake of him using it for facetime

Anyone else had this issue?
