Perfection is not attainable

Well nobody else seems to want to start a matchday thread here we go.

FA Cup, we are pretty poor at the moment, we have no manager, only 3 wins in 12 matches with 9 defeats in all competitions, we are playing a team on the up from 3 divisions lower than us in the league pyramid....

What could possibly go wrong?

The fog comes down with Darlington 1-0 up and they get awarded the win😃

We’ll continue the trend of conceding early goals, claw one back but Darlo will hold on to ensure we’re in the first batch of any highlights show.

1-2, in front of 1,500 Darlo cut-outs.

Minutes under belts of returning players top of the pops here?  Has to be a big priority to try to get to Rd 3 to though.

Pitman to get 60 minutes?  Will we get 15 minutes out of Lyden?  Is Broadbent ready to go from the off?

Nice bit of rotation, minutes in the legs and we’ll pump them. 3-0.

Strongest available selection today if possible.

We're only in it for the money.

Haven't been in a position to watch anything since Burton Albion. So a match day pass all squared away and into round 2 with a convincing 4-1 win, we just can't keep a clean sheet.
Then another non league opponent to ease ourselves into the plum tie of round 3 away to Premier league opposition.

In 17 previous matches with Darlo we have won 8, drawn 2 and lost 7 times, scoring 24 and conceding 14 times.

In the 8 matches at the CG between the sides Swindon have won 6 times with 1 draw and 1 defeat, scoting 17 and conceding just 3 times. 3 of those matches have ended as 4-0 wins for Town. The last time the sides met at the CG in 2007 it ended as a 1-1 draw.

Darlington currently sit in 15th place in National League North with 1 win and 2 defeats so far this season. Beaten away at Fylde 1-0, home to Kidderminster 3-0 and won 3-0 at Curzon Ashton most recently.

They have beaten Prescott Cables 2-2 (won on pens), Tadcaster 6-1, Cambridge City 2-0 so far in the FA cup run all at home.

Darlington have a few notable ex league pros playing for them....

Nicky Hunt who at 37 has been round the block a few times most notably with Bolton, Birmingham and Derby with over 130 appearances in the Prem with Bolton.

Tony McMahon is 34 who played in the Prem for Middlesborough, also played for Blackpool, both Sheffield clubs and also had a spell at our esteemed yellow neighbours among others.

And the previously very highly rated diminutive striker/winger Adam Campbell, touted as the next big thing from Newcastles academy but has drifted lower down the leagues with Carlisle, Fleetwood, St Mirren, Hartlepool, Gateshead, Notts County, Morecambe and now Darlington yet is still only 25 and played for the England teams up to U19 level.

Going to be an interesting afternoon.

Paying £10 to see Hunt breaking Wellen's long run of defeats in Cup matches.  (I wish).  3-2.
