Before my time really, but looking at Wiki he only seems to have played a couple of hundred games in his career did he get injured or something?

If you had seen him play you would understand his injuries, often got injured making sliding tackles on opponents who often never got up again.

A genuine hard as nails player when you used to be allowed to tackle.

He would have had 20+ sendings off these days rather than just a couple. He would make Grant look like a pussy TBH.

Funny listening to him say that he wasn't even slightly hard off the pitch though, white line fever clearly!

Rambo also knew where the net was at the other end of the pitch.

Absolutely, he was/is a lovely bloke off the pitch, I used to speak to him often back then, but ont he pitch he never ever took any prisoners.

Puts the 'part time Doughty' rumours into a bit of perspective doesn't it!

Fascinating listen this one. The fact that he moved from Brighton in Division1 to us in Division 4 on similar wages shows how much the game has changed.

Honest enough to admit that he made mistakes in terms of lifestyle which affected his game and seems to have used this to his advantage when coaching players of today.

Also appreciated his comment that those of us ( the majority) who are not racist must stand up and voice our opinion as the minority (i.e those that are racist) are the more vocal and if we simply say nothing we are complicit in racism. Food for thought for me certainly, as I have tended to ignore rather than challenge in the past.

Really good listen, and agree with kirky about his comments on racism. Everyone who's talked about black coaches "playing the race card" should listen to the last 5 minutes of the pod, even if they don't listen to the first hour or so. (But you should listen to the first hour or so as well, it's really good).

You're turning into quite the podcast pro, Mr Pullen.
