Do the police tell you all this after arrests nowadays?

You are in a far better position to tell me, I am not allowed out of the house.

Don't forget to clap, cry, be thankful, bang a saucepan at 8pm for our NHS and all keyworkers.

I know it’s well intentioned and it’s a nice sign of gratitude, but this whole ‘clap for carers’ strikes me as very similar to  ‘thoughts and prayers’ in terms of response

I've never been a fan of clapping on xx minutes of a football match for whatever reason. But if it helps some people.

Make it to the end if you can, it's worth it.

Just do whatever the fuck you like. When you say in terms of response, there is not a lot most people can do (given restrictions socially) so whatever response will have my support. If you have a better suggestion then please do distribute your idea.

At the end of the day 'thoughts and prayers', sometimes is the only thing some may have; if that is what they take comfort in then there is really no fuss knocking it.

Although I get what you mean from the Facebook people who fall into the category of "What's up hun" "Inbox me" "thoughts and prayers". A great example on Family Guy covered this once with...

'FB Post: I have syphilis.
Jenny commented: Thoughts and prayers.
Jenny liked this post.'

But those types are the exception to the rule.

Anyway, I'm off to bang my saucepan (not a euphemism).

I love jeselnik, he nails it

I get it helps some people, but I’m worried it will overshadow lack of any practical help. Although I see today the government have written off £13bn of NHS desk - not sure what that actually means in practice but can’t be a bad thing

Yeah I definitely see your angle mate hence the usual social media types noted above. I think it just aids an awareness that there are people still working hard and most at home can't practically do anything (maybe writing to their MP). It's funny though, other countries do this kind of stuff and several go "oh that's awesome". We do it and it comes under scrutiny.

I assume it means the NHS has £12bn less debt now?
