Tony Evans....ran around a lot but was generally pretty useless. I was disappointed with Dave Moss as I was looking forward to seeing him play, having missed out on him first time around. I saw a fair few of Mossys last 2 seasons with us 1st time round, brilliant player, a mere shadow that came back that year, Jake Findlay, Mossys best mate, arrived as well from Lootun and he was shocking. Evans had a good rep at Brum and Cardiff but was an absolute donkey. Mossy was the biggest disappointmet for me though. We only started improving after we got big Kenny Allen in, the gentle giant. He could command his area and distribute better than any keeper I have seen, but alas wasn't good enough for Div 3 the year after.

I have a vague memory of Allen saving one back into his own goal after it hit the bar in his Testimonial style game against Chelsea? Or have I just been dreaming?

Probably dreaming, there is a certain detachment from reality with your stuff atm. You may be confusing Kenny with Jimmy Allan who had a benefit for long service in 86.... Kenny may have played mind.

Hilarious watching people scuttle off in all directions when Phil turns up.

As confirmed, Jimmy Allan but with Allen playing in goal. He went chasing off out of the box. And yes, you must be right, we most certainly are not top of the Division after 30 games, so it certainly couldn't feel anything like any other season where we were top after 30 games. At least I had the balls to call it after 4 games, or something like that rather than whiter on about how we could be in a tough spot after our opening fixtures or that it may be like some season where we collapsed after Christmas, or that come the end of the Transfer window it could all be falling apart etc. Clearly when only 4 teams get promoted out of 24, odds are always on your side to call out failure as a possibility - because it is probable.

Back in 85/86 we had the run about this time of year of 6 away games in a row, won the lot and got 13 points ahead of the next auto competitor with the postponed home games in hand, that's the sort of thing that tells you're better than the rest.
Were any of those opponents in that run in the top 3/6/10

This is what the TEF turns into every day we don't sign anyone. Edit: Thank you STFC for thinking of the TEF.
