Am i the only one who finds the constant criticism in the media of the England team very boring?I don't care how bad the writers thought the game was,we won like we had too.The way the media go on you'd have thought that beckham had been sent off and sven had been caught indulging in a spot of sheep bothering. Smiley
Its all just hype of course, but it is probably one of the major reasons why i can't seem to get worked up about england games anymore, even important games,i just find myself switching off Crying .I find this to be very sad, cause the reason i got into football in the first place was because of the england team during italia 90,now i am only slightly interested and the only teams i really care about are Swindon and the England cricket team.

I am with you on this one.  The press really do greatly piss me off, not just with regards this.  There is no much negativity in the press it is horrible.

England did a job, they did it pretty well and comfortably really.  Get off their backs.  The press just creates more pressure which does affect performance.

100% right Harold.......what really annoys me is wastrels like Robbie Fowler having a pop in the media because he's got a book out.

WC qualifiers are no more than that...get the points job done....Italy showed how difficult it can be to win in a footballing backwater.

Yeah I agree, it's as if the press expects England to win at least 4-0 against every lesser footballing nation, football doesn't work like that and it would be pretty boring if it did. England won and deserved to win and our unbeaten qualification record is as good as any other team so the criticism is not really appropriate.

The press seem to be at the stage of wanting Swen out, and they usually get their way though this time I think he will stay until our 2006 campaign is over.

I think the press have got bored of Sven, he's done ok but at £4million a year you'd expect him to be good. He's not really done that much yet, he's just done alright but I don't think he deserves the sack at the moment. We should have kept Hoddle though, he is a legend.

He got lucky when we beat the Germans 1-5!

That's why he's still in this job - it gave the FA too much faith in him, so they rewarded him with a mamouth contract.  Sven's not going to quit a £4 mill a year job, and the FA cannot sack him as it would mean a massive payout.

Hopefully after next summer we will be a Sven free country. Cool

I want to see an England manager with a bit of passion, he sat there against Wales with no emotion on his face whatsoever, i want a manager that will get up and scream his fecking head off at ythe players if they're playing crap till you can see the veins popping out his neck.

I dont really see what screaming at international quality players is going to achieve. Its not a pub team.

Before Keegan was appointed the press and general public were all for someone to motivate the players and jump around. That worked out well didnt it?

I agree, it's horses for courses really.  I think it wrong to say "we must have this.....we must have that......".  You have to be open-minded and get the best that is available at that time.

Its called motivation, we need a manager who isnt scared of dropping the top players instead of the team picking itself.
