There is a story in the Peterborough ET today comparing the average wages that Peterborough paid compared to the rest of League 1.

So I thought I’d check the site they got the info from (footy.com) to see what ours was and how it compared in League 2.

According to the site our average players wage is £1381, which ranks us 5th in L2.

It would rank us 19th in L1.

Ironically Accrington were 24th with an average of £635.
 & Luton top on £2101.

Aston Villa were top of the Championship wages table at £26,566.

That figure does indeed sound feasible to me.

Put another way, it could take a Norris or a Dunne about three years to earn what Rooney earns in a week.

Hopefully none of our lot need to use a foodbank.

Or to put it another way, you could fund the whole of Accringtons league winning team for just over 2 weeks Mesut Ozils wage.

Yes, very true.
One of the above broke sweat over the course of the season, the other one didn't.

£70k a year sounds about right.

Mind you a lot of the kids who will be incorporated into the squad over the summer will barely be on half that ....

FM seemed convinced that the two goalkeepers (Vigs and RCC) were our highest earners by some distance. The former definitely makes sense, the latter less so.

Obviously FM isn't all knowing on financial matters, but I'd imagine they at least do some research into that kind of thing.

Indeed, and if it were true then the sooner we offload RCC the better.
