Finally reluctantly accepting that maybe it's time to put the 14-yr old KIA out to grass (well, not literally, I'm not going to abandon it in a field) and looking at a lease for my next option. Anyone done it? Recommend any leasing companies? Hidden tricks etc to watch out for?

I got mine through lings cars - a broker but very reasonably priced and a painless process (even if the website took some getting used too)
Would recommend a look if you’re not set on anything particular. This was PCH, not PCP

I previously arranged a lease through a broker company called Tilsun. Very easy to deal with, but they tend to load the deal up-front so as to make it appear cheaper on the monthly payments.
Current lease is directly through Kia (but financed by ALD). Much easier dealing with a local firm than doing things remotely as I had done previously, plus I could pick the car up rather than have it delivered to me. Kia were about the only dealership I found that would entertain personal leasing whereas other dealers only really deal with business leases and wanted me to go down the PCP route.

Actually, looking at that 9 year old thread I was dead against leasing and said it was dead money. Now I wouldn't do anything other than lease a car. I'm such a flip-flopper

You were quite down on leasing in the Ling thread.... did she persuade you otherwise (ah see you beat me to it above!). We are also considering going down the lease route (coincidentally possibly with Kia), whats the benefit of personal lease v. PCP as with PCP you can just walk away at the end like a lease anyway can't you?

You can't necessarily just walk away from a PCP. A dealer will sell it to you on the basis there should be equity in the car at the end of the period to be a deposit on your next deal. The GFV usually is about right, but sometimes they get it wrong or things change (the make/model becomes less desirable i.e. dieselgate) and you could actually end up having to pay to hand the car back.
No such problem with a lease, you just hand it back and it's resale value is the finance company's problem.

Keep an eye on this thread for deals: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=255&t=1713219&i=6980It's mostly just higher end cars, but the occasional deal will pop up. If you are dead set on what car you want, there could be a lead time for it to be built (up to 6 months in a lot of cases at the moment). But if you're not too bothered and wait around for an "in stock" deal there's some cracking offers to be had. I favour a 24 month deal. A good indicator is if the cost of the lease is less than 25% of the OTR price, it's usually a good deal.

Now that's interesting as I'm looking at getting a KIA, but thought Fish Bros only did business leases? Or is there another local KIA dealer I don't know about? Oooh, that's gorgeous but the missus would think I'm having a midlife crisis

It was Fish Bros I dealt with. I found an online quote and asked if they'd match it, which they did, so I gave them the business.
