Saw it on the flight over to the UK and thought it very lame. Highlights were the appearance of the originla Marvin and Arthur Dent.

i think you have to have either read the books or heard the original radio show to enjoy the film. i dont think its a strong enough film to stand on its own. i enjoyed it and laughed quite alot but i have to admit thats only because i had the other versions in my head at each funny moment....if you get me?

The radio show is probably the best version of adams work using actors but the books which came after the radio show get the edge over all only because of the depth of the world itself and you just get more of the characters.
the acting in the film pisses over the tv series although simon jones is arthur dent in every hitchikers fans eyes even if his on screen acting is very wooden but i guess thats how people saw him!
ok im a nerd but the douglas adams was a very clever man!

the best bit was when they turned into wool dolls, i was in stitches. i quite liked it, i watched the TV adaptation a few years back, i quite liked the film.
marvin was very funny indeed.

I am shocked!  I thought that film was the best thing recently on the big screen. Better than another Hugh Grant romcom, or romantic comedy for those not in the lingo. I'm fed up with all the lovey-dovey-crappy-Bridget-Jones-style films. He always wants a cup of tea!

The books are also very good by the way!
