Interesting hey? I found one on the way home from yesterday. It was floundering in the road so I picked it up and put it in the town gardens. They are a protected species you see. Just doing my job.

Interestingly, thats the 3rd reptile I've found on my street in 7 years. In 1997 I found my first slow worm. It was pretty fast though. In 2001 (ish) I found a black adder. It was a lot bigger and I kept my distance as I didnt want to get bitten.

What other reptiles have people found?

a slow worm is not a worm you know, its not a snake even. Its a legless lizzard.

I have not seen one of them for years.  We used to get loads at our old house in the bushes in the garden.  Must have been cause we were near a field and stream i assume.

You get quite a few on the old railway cycle path....they like to bask on the bank which is south facing.

Cotswolds are good for adders...they seem to like basking on the stone walls...haven't seen many in Wilts.

New Forest and Dorset is good for lizards.....
